Colourful Concoctions: The Pantone Games

http://www.griottes.fr/choose-your-color

How cute are these? Griottes has made these little, hand-made dessert tarts on (what looks like) colour swatches! =D After a little research though, I found out Pantone's colour swatches are more than just that- they're a digital version for graphic artists etc who really need to colour match things well:

"...an innovative system of identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community...Pantone has expanded its color matching system concept to other color-critical industries, including digital technology, textiles, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint..." ~Pantone, About Us
Sounds pretty cool, right? =]

Wrong! I did some more research, & stumbled upon something I shouldn't have.
A hideous practice, that Pantone have been doing for years.

Something known as...

...Pantone's Colour of the Year...

(It's 'tangerine' this year, in case you're wondering)
How could they? What sort of barbaric, torturous game is this?! D=

I mean, the idea of digital colour matching is cool, but there's no need to be pretentious and announce that there's only one colour a year that should get the limelight- how does that make the other colours feel? =[

What about all the other, heartbroken colours out there? Is there really such thing as a 'colour of the year'? Weren't all colours created equal? We should rebel! We should wear/ eat/ look at any colour we want!

I mean, what if I wanted to wear this colour today?

Wait, what colour even is this? Brown, cream?
(I even thought the picture above were mushrooms- oops, lol D= !)

See?! Somebody needs to stop this madness! D=

I'm sure Griottes had perfectly innocent intentions when making these tarts, but someone needs to show her the true face of Pantone.. before it's too late...
